Stuffed Greek Lamb Burger

We all know the craving. You're trying to decide what to have for dinner, and then it suddenly appears... a glorified mental image of a juicy hamburger and crispy fries. For Americans, it's a match made in Heaven; or even a food group by itself (unfortunately!). If you give in to the fast food craving, you're just settling for low quality fast food. To satisfy this craving, there's no need to compromise. And you can sidestep the heart attack in a bag. Introducing: a flavorful Greek-style lamb burger. Servings: depending on how large you form the patties, you can make at least 5. Ingredients: 1lb thawed ground lamb 2 cups coarsely chopped lean Sterling Lamb bacon 4 oz plain feta cheese 2 tbs minced garlic 1/2 minced purple onion Greek seasoning to taste Sea salt to taste

Crumble the feta cheese over the bowl of thawed ground lamb. Next, thoroughly mix all ingredients into the meat (it's easiest just to go ahead and get your hands dirty).

Once all ingredients have been thoroughly blended, form into patties. Keep in mind that the lamb burgers will shrink as they cook.

We highly recommend grilling the patties, but this of course is weather, time, and effort permitting. Too bad that grilled lamb aromas can't be shared like pictures can. Someone ought to get on that.

The alternative is obviously to cook them using a nonstick skillet. Not nearly as tasty, but it certainly does the trick.

On the grill, it took about 5 to 6 minutes per side on high heat.

Burger serving suggestions:

  1. Place on soft roll rather than a generic hamburger bun

  2. Top with tzatziki, sliced cucumber and tomato (see pictured below) OR

  3. Thinly sliced apple wedges

Side dish suggestions:

  1. Fresh Greek Salad

  2. Baked sweet potato fries (see pictured below)

  3. Meditteranean-style couscous
